One of the defining aspects of Zim are the many, many intelligent races that inhabit it. Some of these races have been on Zim since near the beginning of all sentient life. Others peoples are so new to this world that no prior age ever saw their like. Some have been forgotten, seemingly forever, only to return mysteriously within this new age, the Age of Life.
One group of peoples are the Old Races. They are familiar races and well known to most of us. These Old Races include, but are not limited to:
A new group of peoples are the anthropomorphic races, which have only just arrived since the beginning of the Age of Life. These Animal Races include, but are not limited to:
- Adlet – Wolf
- Badja – Badger
- Bungu – Bunny/Rabbit
- Catfolk – Cat/Large Cat
- Grippli – Tree Frog
- Kappa – River Turtle
- Kech – Ape
- Kitsune – Fox
- Ratfolk – Rat

- Tanuki – Raccoon
- Tengu – Raven
- Thriae – Wasp
- Vanara – Monkey
- Vishkanya – Serpentine
You would think the humanoid species would number no more than these, but Humans have made many cross breeds, such as a union with an Elf creating a Half-Elf, and the union with a Vampire creating a Dhampir.
Yet some Humans are born from seemingly normal human heritage, only at birth showing the obvious signs of their otherworldly ancestry. Many of these births are considered a good omen by their parents and community, these people often finding pivotal roles throughout History. These Spontaneous Races include, but are not limited to:
- Aasimar – Celestial, or other good outsider plane
- Ifrit – Fire Plane
- Oread – Earth Plane
- Sylph – Air Plane
- Undine – Water Plane
- Suli – Genie
- Tiefling – Abyssal, Infernal, or other evil outsider plane
There are many creatures that lurk in the ocean’s depths and rivers rushing waters as well. These Water Denizens include, but are not limited to:

Still there are more intelligent beings, many monstrous indeed. Tribes and clans of Giants are finding their place in the world again, as are a variety of Trolls and Ogres. Lycanthropes are told of as monstrous creature, but not all of them are as evil as you would be led to believe. Centaurs protect their large territories. Fey of every variety inhabit and guard their forests. Treants plant their trees, ever pushing back against civilization. Dragons eating anything they want.
It is a dangerous world out there. Being a Pathfinder is a challenge, to say the least. It is our greatest wish, that the information found within these pages has helped you towards our goals.
